    Job Description:
    Vigil Games is seeking an experienced, senior writer who can help provide creative and rich depth to the world of Darksiders 2. We’re looking for somebody who understands the importance of pacing, character development, compelling circumstances and inspiring players to want to know more about the worlds we create.
    Core Responsibilities

     

    • Works with the creative team to develop rich, enthralling fiction/lore for our characters, world, items & tasks.
    • Write, revise and maintain NPC dialogue and all in-game texts.
    • Create character backgrounds and motivations
    • Make sure all documentation is up-to-date, accessible and changes are tracked.
    • Ability and willingness to take direction and integrate feedback as needed.
    • Assist with website content, marketing copy, and game manual as required.
    • General support to other systems to help maintain our internal quality levels.
    Skills & Qualifications
    •  
      • At least one completed game as a professional writer (or comparable experience). Proven track record on AAA console products preferred.
      • Talent for creating vivid characters, compelling narratives, and believable dialogue.
      • Excellent proofreading and editorial skills. Attention to detail.
      • Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to multitask and be flexible about changing role requirements.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
      • Passion for games and broad knowledge of PC and Console titles a plus.
      • College degree or equivalent.

       

      SAMPLE WORK REQUIRED

      • Applicants should submit a short writing sample that demonstrates dialogue, narrative, and character development.
      • Applicants may be asked to submit a writing sample or test based on design specs to be provided by Vigil.
      • Any supplemental materials demonstrating skills relevant to this position are also encouraged.
    Pluses

    Bachelors Degree in English with an emphasis in creative writing.
