Job Description:
Vigil Games is looking for an experienced Senior Gameplay Programmer to help implement and refine the overall gameplay experience of Dark Millennium Online. The Senior Gameplay Programmer will work closely with Programming, Art and Design leads to insure that all gameplay functionality is carried through to completion and provides an incredible player experience.
Core Responsibilities

Implement gameplay related functionality including combat mechanics, economic and social systems, and other core game mechanics

Deliver technical documentation for internal use

Work with other team members to iterate and refine gameplay systems

Contribute innovative and original ideas toward all aspects of the game’s production and development

Write robust, maintainable code in line with Vigil’s implementation guidelines

Maintain and improve code performance through profiling and optimization
Skills & Qualifications
-
Has previously held a senior programming position on at least one shipped AAA console or PC title
-
Extensive experience with C++ is required

Specific interest or experience in one or more of the following areas is a big plus: cover mechanics, action combat in a high latency environment, social systems, player abilities and class balance

Work experience on a AAA MMO or Live Team a strong plus

Experience working with a cross-platform engine

A strong understanding of Software Engineering practices

Proven leadership and mentorship abilities

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Proven ability to multitask under considerable pressure

An avid gamer with strong interest in pushing the industry forward creatively
